Chapter 9: Silent Slaughter (Part 2)
"Squad Leader, look at ours." The two soldiers exchanged glances, simultaneously rolling out from behind the tree. While still on the ground, they fired their guns without getting up.
This is the opportunity, as Lin Shaofeng leaped out from behind the tree, the submachine gun in his hand roaring wildly, unleashing a torrent of bullets towards the remaining two enemies, bringing them down to the ground
With the wolfdog, it will not be so easy to shake off the enemy, especially since the escort team is not too far from here. They move slowly and can easily be caught up by the enemy.
The little devil was provoked by these two individuals. He held the command knife upright in front of him, spread his legs apart, slightly bent forward for a moment, and then leaped out, charging towards Zheng Xiao, who was wielding a military knife
The distance between the two individuals rapidly closed, as the squad leader of the enemy raised his command knife high and swung it down towards Zheng Xiao, shouting, "Baka, die!"
Both sides of the enemy are armed. He believes that Zheng Xiao, who wields a short weapon, should be easier to deal with, so he chose to face this direction first. However, little did he know that this was, in fact, a heart-stopping devil.
Zheng Xiao had an additional blood mark under his rib, which, according to m.hetushu.com, was caused by a Japanese officer's saber. Blood seeped out from beneath his clothing, yet he seemed to feel nothing. He shook the blood off the military knife in his right hand and then wiped it on his clothing
Lin Shaofeng paused in frustration, as the enemy had chosen to engage with Zheng Xiao. He had no other option but to stand there and watch the two men fight.
Zheng Xiao suddenly stopped, sidestepped to the side to evade the vertical slash from the enemy, then lowered his head to avoid the subsequent horizontal sweep, and continued to charge towards the enemy.
After Zheng Xiao eliminated the remaining enemies with landmines, only four or five individuals were left. Under the leadership of the enemy squad leader, they were making their final stand.
Behind him, the enemy squad leader suddenly halted, and after a brief pause, his body swayed violently before he fell backward to the ground. A bayonet from a Type 38 rifle was embedded in the area of his chest where his heart was located, the entire blade piercing into his body, with only the handle protruding from the surface.
The sound of gunfire was intense, and the forest was filled with a pervasive haze of gunpowder. Some branches had caught fire, crackling as they burned, and thick, acrid smoke rose into the sky, lingering for a long time without dissipating
However, they still stubbornly endured, driven by the indomitable spirit of the Yamato people, fighting on even when they knew death was inevitable, continuously firing at the encroaching enemies on both sides
At this point, lacking any geographical advantage and being inferior in combat strength to the opponent, these few Japanese soldiers are well aware that they have reached a desperate situation of being completely out of ammunition and supplies, essentially having signed their names on the roster of death
General Zheng Xiao sheathed his sword, then stood up and approached Lin Shaofeng. He glanced around and asked, "Is everything resolved?"
I know. Lin Shaofeng was on the other side, hiding behind a tree to change his magazine. As soon as he peeked out, the enemy's bullets struck the tree he was hiding behind, forcing him to retreat back behind the tree. "But the enemy is desperate; they are difficult to deal with"
In this context, the barking of several wolfhounds caused Zheng Xiao and Lin Shaofeng to change their expressions.
Lin Shaofeng handed the German submachine gun to his subordinate, then kicked up a Japanese Type 38 rifle with his leg, holding it level as he walked forward. "Alright, let me show you the strength of the Chinese people."
Both sides shouted simultaneously, charging at each other while raising their weapons
What should we do? The two individuals exchanged a glance and almost simultaneously came to a halt.
Lin Shaofeng also understood this principle, thus he nodded readily, waved his hand, and said, "Withdraw"
Is this fellow still alive? Lin Shaofeng and the others focused their gaze and recognized that this officer was the squad leader of the enemy; they did not expect him to still be alive after the attack.
The bullet pierced through the enemy's calf, causing two of them to buckle at the knees and kneel on one knee with a thud, resulting in a brief pause in the gunfire
"Lin Shaofeng, let me handle this," Zheng Xiao shouted from behind the Japanese officer, drawing his military knife and holding it in a reverse grip, the blade pressed against the upper part of his arm, charging towards the Japanese squad leader with a rush of wind
The gunfire had ceased, and Lin Shaofeng, holding a submachine gun, stood at the edge of the forest with two soldiers, looking at the Japanese soldiers they had killed, feeling an immense sense of satisfaction in his heart
It is so lively here that it would be strange if the enemy could not hear or see it. It won't be long before they swarm in, surrounding them.
They had just left the battlefield less than one hundred meters when a loud shouting sound came from behind, likely indicating the arrival of the enemy's reinforcements
We must first eliminate the enemy's attack dogs
Lin Shaofeng and the others were completely unaware of when Zheng Xiao had picked up a Japanese bayonet and used it to take the life of that Japanese soldier
Lin Shaofeng also charged towards the enemy, running while shouting, "This is mine, leave it for me"
The enemy squad leader missed twice; he twisted his foot, swiftly maneuvered his command knife, and thrust it towards Zheng Xiao's abdomen with a quick and fierce motion, delivering substantial force.
Da da da da
Well, it's resolved. Lin Shaofeng genuinely admired this friend he had known for less than half an hour; he was truly a talented individual, to the extent that Lin even entertained the thought of bringing him into the Central Military Academy's Officer Instruction Corps.
At this moment, Zheng Xiao emerged from behind a tree on the other side, holding an automatic rifle, and strode forward.
"Come on, I will not surrender." The squad leader of the enemy drew his command sword, then swayed his body left and right for two steps, his bloodshot eyes filled with a kind of madness that was reflected in the * picture * book, "To die for the Yamato nation is the honor of every soldier"
With the right hand gripping the sword upside down, he raised it horizontally while simultaneously lunging forward, charging straight at the enemy squad leader, shouting, "Kill."
Zheng Xiao leaned out from behind the tree, firing a single shot from the automatic rifle in his hand, and the enemy soldier aiming at him fell to the ground with a thud. He turned to Lin Shaofeng on the other side and shouted, "Quickly finish the battle; the enemy reinforcements are on their way."
With a crisp sound, the clash of weapons resonated in the ears of Lin Shaofeng and the others, followed by the sight of two individuals passing each other, arriving behind one another
Lin Shaofeng and the two soldiers he brought with him simultaneously emerged from behind the tree, their German submachine guns spewing flames as bullets rained down on the four or five Japanese soldiers across from them
A Japanese officer, his face covered in smoke and dust, crawled up from the pile of corpses after a slight movement among the bodies, causing several corpses to be pushed aside and fall down.
Four people retreated together into the woods
Zheng Xiao furrowed his brows and thought for a moment, then said, "We must leave here immediately; the enemy's reinforcements should not be far behind, and it would be easy for them to catch up."
